Exifade Privacy Policy

Last updated: October 10, 2026

Exifade is an iPhone app developed and provided by Hajime Nakamura as an individual. This page explains what the app does and does not collect.

The app has no account registration. It never asks for your name, email address, or phone number, and there is no login.

Photos and location data never leave your device

Photos and location data are never sent off the device; only if you choose to show the map are the coordinates sent to Apple Maps.

  • Reading a photo's metadata, removing the location, and writing the cleaned copy all happen on your iPhone
  • Nothing is sent to the developer's servers (the app has no such server)
  • The app contains no analytics, no crash reporting and no advertising SDK

The map is shown only when you ask for it

When a photo carries a location, the app shows the coordinates and a drawing made on your device. No map is loaded and no place name is looked up.

If you tap Show on Map, the app uses Apple's MapKit to draw the map and name the approximate area. To do that, the coordinates of that one photo are sent to Apple Maps. The photo itself is never sent. This happens only for the photo on screen, each time you tap the button. Apple handles these requests under its own Privacy Policy.

Access to your photo library

  • Choosing photos: the app uses the system photo picker, so it can only read the photos you select
  • Saving a copy: permission to add photos is requested the first time you save a cleaned copy. Your original is not changed
  • Deleting originals (Pro): permission to access the photos is requested only if you choose to delete originals after their copies are saved. iOS shows its own confirmation before anything is deleted

Photos you pick are copied into a temporary work area inside the app, which is cleared when you leave the screen and every time the app starts.

The share extension

When you choose Exifade from a share sheet (Pro), the photos you handed over are cleaned on your device and passed to the destination you choose next. They never pass through the developer's servers.

Purchases (In-App Purchase)

Some features are available through "Pro", a one-time purchase via Apple's App Store (not a subscription). Payment is processed by Apple; the developer never receives payment details such as credit card numbers. Whether you have purchased is determined from the App Store entitlement on your device, with no developer server involved. The price is requested from the App Store when the purchase screen opens. Information about App Store purchases is handled under Apple's Privacy Policy.

App Tracking Transparency (ATT) and ads

The app does not request ATT permission. It does not obtain the advertising identifier (IDFA), does not track you, and shows no ads.

Deleting your data

The app keeps no data about you. Cleaned copies you saved are ordinary photos in your library and can be deleted there. Deleting the app removes its temporary work area.

Children's privacy

The app is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children under 13.

Sharing with third parties

We do not provide, share, or sell your data. The only data that can leave the device is the coordinates sent to Apple Maps when you choose to show the map, as described above.
