Exifade Support
See what a photo carries, and remove the place before you share it. Everything happens on your device.
Most photos quietly carry the place they were taken. Exifade shows the location, the shooting info and every other tag inside a photo, and writes a clean copy with the location removed. Your original stays as it is.
Tap Choose a Photo, pick one, then tap Remove Location. The app writes a new copy without the location, reads it back to make sure nothing is left, and then lets you Save Copy or Share it.
No. The app always writes a new copy. Your original stays exactly as it is unless you choose to delete it yourself (Pro, and iOS asks you first).
For JPEG and HEIC photos, no. Only the metadata is rewritten; the picture itself is not compressed again. A few other formats (such as PNG) have to be written out again, which for PNG is lossless.
Photos and location data are never sent off the device. The one exception is when you tap Show on Map: the coordinates of that photo, never the photo, are sent to Apple Maps to draw the map and name the area. If you never tap it, nothing is sent.
When you pick a photo, the system photo picker has an Options button that can leave the location out. Make sure location is included there. Photos received through some messaging apps also arrive with the location already removed.
- Free: view the location, shooting info and all metadata; remove the location from one photo at a time; save a copy or share it
- Pro (one-time purchase): batch removal for up to 100 photos or a whole album, removal straight from the share sheet, remove all metadata instead of just the location, change the capture date, and delete the originals after saving copies
In Photos or any app that can share images, tap the share button and choose Exifade. If you don't see it, scroll the row of apps to the end, tap More, and turn it on. The location is removed and the regular share sheet opens with the clean copies.
JPEG, HEIC, PNG and TIFF still photos. Videos are not supported. Live Photos are handled as still photos. RAW files can be viewed but not rewritten.
Open Settings (the gear on the first screen) and tap Restore Purchase to restore a purchase made with the same Apple Account.
For bug reports and requests, please let us know via Issues.
When reporting, it helps to include:
- Your device (e.g., iPhone 15 Pro) and iOS version
- The app version (shown at the bottom of the Settings screen)
- What you did and what happened
Please do not attach photos that still contain a location you want to keep private.
