Light Meter Dial Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 10, 2026
Light Meter Dial is an iPhone app developed and provided by Hajime Nakamura as an individual. This page explains what the app does and does not collect.
In short: the app collects nothing. It has no account, no ads, no analytics and no crash reporting service, and it does not connect to any server of the developer's. Everything it does happens on your iPhone.
The camera is used for one thing: measuring how bright the scene is so the app can calculate an exposure. The app reads the exposure values from the camera and shows a live preview so you can aim. It does not take photos or record video, does not save any image, and does not send anything from the camera anywhere.
If you allow it, your location is used on your iPhone only to calculate golden hour and blue hour times for where you are. It is requested only while you are using the app.
If you turn on "Save location with each frame", the coordinates at the moment you log a frame are stored with that frame in your roll log on your iPhone. This option is off by default.
Places you save for planning, and the approximate location shared with the app's own Home Screen widget, are also stored only on your iPhone. Your location is never sent to the developer or to any third party.
Your rolls, frames, notes, saved cameras and lenses, calibration and other settings are stored only on your iPhone.
- They are never sent to the developer's servers (the app has no such server)
- Deleting the app deletes this data
If iOS's own iCloud Backup is turned on, Apple's system may include the app's data in your device backup so that it can be restored on a new iPhone. This is an Apple feature governed by Apple's Privacy Policy; the developer cannot see the contents.
- Apple's Privacy Policy: https://www.apple.com/legal/privacy/
When you export a roll, the file is created on your iPhone and handed to the destination you choose in the iOS share sheet (Mail, Files, another app and so on). It does not pass through the developer.
Golden hour reminders are local notifications scheduled on your iPhone. No push notification server is involved.
Some features are unlocked with a one-time purchase, Light Meter Dial Pro (not a subscription). Payment is handled by Apple; the developer never receives your card number or other payment details. Whether Pro is unlocked is determined on your iPhone from App Store purchase information, with no developer server involved. Apple's handling of purchase information is governed by Apple's Privacy Policy.
The app does not track you across other companies' apps or websites, does not use the advertising identifier (IDFA), does not ask for App Tracking Transparency permission, and shows no ads.
- A frame or a roll: swipe a frame to delete it, or use "Delete roll" on the roll's screen
- Everything: delete the app; all data stored on your iPhone by the app is removed
Because the developer holds none of your data, there is nothing to request or delete on the developer's side.
The app does not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children under 13.
No data is provided, shared or sold to any third party.
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new "Last updated" date.
