often times we want to load up elevation or imagery data into a planet2 gisdata map file all at once and don't want to fly over the patches to trigger the loading for each area.
similarly, sometimes we want to export out data from planet2 exactly as it exists natively without interpolation.
this is a request for methods for importing and exporting data without interpolation (on the user side) into map cache files. This would allow us to load data sets much more quickly and also export out data for use in a simulation which would match graphics exactly.
One possible method for this is a library one would link into a main program and make calls to import or export data. It could also be a plugin to EDGE as long as it didn't require the visual update loop to occur.
