Training: Trace a Data Change

What you'll learn: how to find who changed a record, what changed, and which screen or flow did it — including deleted records. You need: Administrator access type, enterprise admin application. Time: 4 minutes.

Steps

  1. Go to Left menu → Data Management → Data Changes. (Fallback: search "Data Change" in the header.) Data Change History
  2. Click the Record Type dropdown and type the model name (e.g. "organization"), then pick it from the list.
  3. Optionally narrow by Records, Changed At, or Changed By.
  4. Click the orange search button. Results list each change as Created, Updated , or Deleted — deleted records show a "(deleted)" suffix and remain fully viewable.
  5. Select a row to open the change detail.
  6. Read the Before / After panes — red is the old value, green is the new. Toggle Show All Fields to see the entire record; expand the JSON documents for raw data. Before/After diff
  7. Expand Trace to see exactly where the change came from — the Saved Transform, Data Flow, or Screen URL that made it.

Check your work

You can answer all three audit questions from one row: who (Changed By), what (Before/After), from where (Trace).

Try it yourself

Rename something disposable (e.g. a TRAINING organization), then find your own change and confirm the Trace points at the screen you used.
