Artisans Journal
The Artisan's Scroll you wake up with becomes the Journal once the Block Guardian falls. Open it with right click.
| Ribbon | Content |
|---|---|
| Objective | What to do next, your Doll of Life, your group, the pages found, your title, the cycle and the endings you have seen. After an ending, the New Cycle button (click twice to confirm). |
| Quests | The quests of each world, with the karma choices. |
| Karma | Your karma, your souls and what your karma changes. |
| Worlds | The worlds nested as dolls (painted when beaten, pulsing when open, bare wood when locked, yours ringed in gold) and, for each world, what you have gathered: its five Journal pages, its hidden doll, its rite and its boss, with the share of it all. |
| Scroll | The five pages of the original Scroll. |
| Pages | The Journal pages you found, and their text. |
Every world hides five pages in its structures: the exploration structures hold pages 1 to 3, the story structures pages 4 and 5, and the secret structure one more. A page is a Journal Page item; it is recorded in your Journal as soon as it is in your inventory.
| Page | Kind | What it tells |
|---|---|---|
| 1 | Site note | Why the world was built |
| 2 | Portrait | Who the boss was before it became a boss |
| 3 | Observation | A survival or combat tip for the world |
| 4 | Coded page | A piece of the way to World 0 |
| 5 | Letter to the traveller | The world's revelation |
In the Pages tab, the left page lists the ten worlds with five pips each: grey for a page still lost, red for a page found, gold for a page you can read. Click a pip to read the page, or use Back and Next to go through the pages you found.
Page 4 of every world is written in the Artisan's cipher. The Journal deciphers it once your group has beaten the world's boss, or while you carry that world's core. The cipher is simple enough to break by hand: each letter is mirrored through the alphabet, then shifted by the world's number.
| World | The player learns that... |
|---|---|
| 1 | the worlds were made |
| 2 | each of them locks something away |
| 3 | an old artisan left plans |
| 4 | the Artisan tried to stop his work |
| 5 | a presence is watching |
| 6 | the bosses are linked |
| 7 | the prisons hold a single creature |
| 8 | someone came this way before |
| 9 | that traveller was you |
| 10 | breaking the prisons set the creature free |
