The Way Into Each World
Only World 1 grows from a Seed. Every other world opens with its own object and its own rite: where the object is set down and what it waits for. All ten are crafted at the Matrix Workbench from the core of the boss before them, once your group has beaten that boss. Their item ids stay seed_1 to seed_10.
| World | Object | Ingredients (Matrix Workbench) | Where it goes | What it waits for |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | World 1 Seed | 1 Guardian Core, 16 Iron Ingot (vanilla), 16 Oak Log (vanilla) | Planted on tilled World Soil 0 | Water within 4 blocks horizontally and 1 block vertically |
| 2 | Ember Heart | 1 Queen Core, 8 Sporite, 16 Spores | Within 3 blocks of lava | At least 4 Ashrock around it |
| 3 | Jailer's Key | 1 Titan Core, 8 Ash Ingot, 16 Blazing Rock | Against an iron door | A redstone signal (a lever, a button) |
| 4 | Storm Rod | 1 Jailer Core, 8 Dungeon Key, 8 Sealed Fragment | On top of a lightning rod, under the open sky | A storm, or a Storm Essence fed to it (it then opens at once) |
| 5 | Black Lantern | 1 Storm King Core, 8 Storm Essence, 8 Celestial Crystal | In complete darkness (light level 0) | At least 4 Spent Glow within 2 blocks |
| 6 | Twin Mirrors | 1 Light Eater Core, 8 Shadow Shard, 4 Diamond Fragment | Between two glass blocks facing each other, two blocks away on either side | Nothing more |
| 7 | Abyssal Pearl | 1 Double Core, 8 Unstable Alloy, 4 Inverted Crystal | Dropped into water | Water at least 3 blocks deep |
| 8 | Sapling of the Four Seasons | 1 Leviathan Core, 4 Pressure Pearl, 8 Abyssal Salt | Planted on grass or dirt | Dawn or dusk on the overworld clock (time 22500 to 1500, or 11500 to 13500) |
| 9 | Seismic Stake | 1 Seasons Core, 8 Temporal Sand, 4 Season Fragment | Driven into stone or deepslate below y 40 | Nothing more |
| 10 | Traveller's Matryoshka | 1 Terrain Core, 1 Terrain Heart, 1 Key of the Last Doll | Anywhere | Nothing: it is ready at once |
The bosses of Worlds 1 to 9 drop their core, which opens the way into the next world, and no World Soil. The Block Guardian drops the Matrix Workbench and 4 World Soil 0, the soil the World 1 Seed needs. World Soils 1 to 9 still exist as the decorative soils of their worlds.
- Set down, the object becomes a rite site drawn as that object. It works like a planted Seed.
- While it waits, it puffs smoke, and it tells the player who set it down, when within 24 blocks, what it still lacks (an overlay message).
- Once its condition holds, it hatches into the World Block after a short ritual of 10 seconds. Progress pauses, but is not lost, when the condition stops.
- Each rite has its own sound while it works (embers, a turning key, a storm, a breath, glass, water, leaves, grinding rock, wooden doll halves) and a swell in the world's own key when it opens its world. See Sounds.
While a rite site waits or hatches, the planter's group can feed it, as with a Seed: calm or wild offerings, together with the blocks within 3 of it and the planter's karma, decide the world's variant. A Storm Essence given to the Storm Rod opens World 4 instead of counting as an offering. See World variants and mutations.
- "Your group has not defeated the boss of world n yet." Beat the previous boss, or join the group that did.
- "There is no room for it here." The spot must be air (water for the Abyssal Pearl).
- A message says where it goes. The Storm Rod goes on top of a lightning rod, the Abyssal Pearl into water, the Sapling on grass or dirt, the Seismic Stake into stone below y 40.
- It smokes and waits. Read the overlay message near it: it names what the rite still lacks.
- It popped back out as an item. The block it stood on was removed (the lightning rod, the grass or dirt, the stone), or, for the World 1 Seed, the soil was no longer tilled World Soil 0.
- It stays unhatched with a message about the world. Your group already has a World Block for that world (break it first), or the server's limit on groups or parcels is reached.
