World 6
Upside Realm is world 6 of 10, in the mastery tier. Its rule is Gravity. You open it with the Twin Mirrors, made from the core of the World 5 boss (Light Eater).
| Tier | Mastery |
| Rule | Gravity |
| Station | Inverter |
| Boss | Your Double (2242 health, 29.9 damage) |
| Core | Double Core |
| People | Free Reflection |
| Way in | Twin Mirrors: 1 Light Eater Core, 8 Shadow Shard, 4 Diamond Fragment |
| Variants | Steady Realm (calm), Spinning Realm (wild) |
| Atmosphere | Inverted pastel: a mint sky over pink fog, lilac clouds, mirror shards falling upward |
| Biomes | Its own, with two lesser biomes at its edges: Crystal Fields (amethyst block floor) and Mirror Flats (smooth quartz floor) |
| Surge | Gravity Storm |
| Travelling merchant | Stray Reflection |
- Recipe of the Twin Mirrors (Matrix Workbench, after the World 5 boss (Light Eater) is defeated): 1 Light Eater Core, 8 Shadow Shard, 4 Diamond Fragment.
- Rite: Set them between two glass blocks facing each other, two blocks away on either side. See The way into each world.
- Arrival: a Threshold platform at the centre of your group's parcel. The boss arena is 160 blocks south (positive Z).
Amplified terrain with cherry trees, Prism Moss and Inverted Stone.
| Block | Type | Drops |
|---|---|---|
| Inverted Stone | Stone (pickaxe) | itself |
| Mirror Glass | Glass, see-through | itself |
| Prism Moss | Soft (shovel) | itself |
| Unstable Alloy Ore | Ore (pickaxe, correct tool needed) | Unstable Alloy |
Up, down and falls are no longer reliable.
The realm is cut into columns of 32 x 32 blocks. At any time about a third of them are flipped, and every 90 seconds the pattern changes.
- Inside a flipped column gravity points up. You, the creatures and the items on the ground fall toward the sky.
- Under an overhang, in a cave or below a bridge, you land on the ceiling and walk on it. Jumping pushes you away from it, downward.
- In the open, the pull reaches 16 blocks above the column's ground. Past that height it fades and you hang there, bobbing, until you leave the column or it turns back.
- Purple sparks draw curtains along the borders between flipped and normal columns around you; inside a flipped column, white motes drift upward.
- 5 seconds before the pattern changes: "Gravity is about to flip."
- When the column you were falling up in turns back, you drift down slowly for 12 seconds. Walk off a ceiling into a normal column, though, and you simply fall.
- The 48 blocks around the Threshold and the boss stage are never flipped.
- Gravity Boots: your gravity never flips.
- Stabilizer: 30 seconds of normal gravity.
- Flipped Apple: 30 seconds of normal gravity.
- An Unstable Sphere still gives Levitation II for 3 seconds to everyone within 6 blocks when it dies.
- Elytra stop working here until the World 8 boss is beaten.
- Ceiling Walk: be caught by a flipped column (or stand near a dying Unstable Sphere).
- Vertigo (hidden): fall upward for 10 seconds without touching anything.
| 32 x 32 | blocks per gravity column |
| about 1 in 3 | columns flipped at a time |
| 90 s | between two changes of the pattern |
| 5 s | of warning |
| 16 | blocks above the ground: how high a flipped column pulls |
| 12 s | of slow fall when your column turns back |
Creatures spawn naturally in the world (regular ones in groups of 1 to 3, swarms in groups of 2 to 4, elites alone and rarer) and from spawners in combat structures. See the Bestiary for all fifty.
| Creature | Health | Damage | Traits | Behavior (as coded) | Drops |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Reflection | 90 | 14.9 | - | When you hit it, its attack damage becomes the damage you just dealt (never lower than its base). | Inverted Crystal (60%) |
| Ceiling Walker | 117 | 12.4 | - | Climbs walls when it bumps into them. | Unstable Alloy (60%) |
| Unstable Sphere | 63 | 19.9 | flying | Drifts toward you. On death, gives Levitation II (3 s) to every player within 6 blocks. | Unstable Alloy (60%) |

| Broken Mirror | 179 | 17.4 | elite, nesting | Returns 30% of the damage it takes to the attacker. Nesting: on death splits into 2 smaller copies (60% size, 40% health, 30% faster) that drop nothing. | Inverted Crystal (100%, 1-2) |
| Item | Kind | Rarity (souls) | Effect |
|---|---|---|---|
| Unstable Alloy | ingot | rare (10) | Base of World 6 gear. |
| Inverted Crystal | gem | epic (30) | Inverter and the Abyssal Pearl (World 7). |

| Mirror Blade | weapon | epic (30) | Sword-type weapon, about 19 attack damage. Gets a random class when crafted. |
| Mirror Helmet | armor | epic (30) | 4 armor, 2 toughness, +1 max health |

The Twin Mirrors and the Hidden Doll 6 are listed on the Items page.
Every gain comes with a flaw. Crafted at the Matrix Workbench from 2 Observer (vanilla), 6 Shadow Shard (World 5 boss defeated).
How it works: Every gain has a flaw: anything with durability comes out already 25% worn. The Inverter also swaps properties: place two pieces of the same kind (two armor pieces, two weapons or two tools) in the two sockets of its niche and press Invert. They trade their class, class level and enchantments; each loses a quarter of its durability and counts one more class change (Chance Doll rerolls cost more), and an enchantment the other piece cannot carry is lost.

2242 health, 29.9 damage, phases at 66% and 33% of its health. Summon it with the Arena Altar. It drops Double Core, and every player within 64 blocks gets 100 souls and credit for the kill.

| Final phase: It adopts your play style | Phase change only. |

While you are here, now and then (see World events):
- Invasion: three waves of the world's creatures, the last led by a glowing warlord, one of its elites; beat it within four minutes for a reward chest and 60 souls each.
- Surge: Gravity Storm. For two minutes the world's rule bites twice as hard. On top of it: You are thrown up at random, then caught by slow falling (a Stabilizer protects you). Weather it for 15 souls.
- Travelling merchant: Stray Reflection, for five minutes: Shell Shard for 6 Unstable Alloy, Mutated Scale for 2 Inverted Crystal, Gravity Boots for 4 Unstable Alloy (each trade twice).
Reflections that broke away from their originals and trade the wrong way round. They spawn naturally in small numbers and one stands in every utility structure of the world. Prices drop by 10% at karma +25 and rise by 10% at karma -25; at karma -50 or lower they refuse to trade one time in three (see Souls and karma).
