Introduction
Gubbins is an app for keeping track of your things — and everything you might want to know about them: how many you have, where they are, what they're worth, when they need servicing, who you lent them to, and when to reorder.
It's built for people with a lot of stuff to keep straight: makers and electronics hobbyists, workshops and studios, home organisers, collectors, and small teams who share tools and equipment. Whether you're cataloguing a component drawer, a garage, or a props store, the same building blocks apply.
- Local-first and fully offline. Your inventory lives in a database inside your browser, on your own device. There's no account to create and no server to sign in to — Gubbins works with no internet connection at all, and keeps working if a service ever goes away. See How your data is stored.
- Private by default. Nothing is uploaded anywhere unless you turn on an optional feature and point it at your own storage. See Privacy & security.
- Installable. Add Gubbins to your device like a native app, with its own window and an offline indicator. See Installing Gubbins.
- As simple or as deep as you need. Track a shelf of boxes with nothing but names and counts, or go all the way to serialised assets with warranties, batch expiry, depreciation and calibration logs. Features you don't use can be hidden entirely — see Modular UI.

💡 Tip Don't feel you have to set everything up at once. Add a few items, get a feel for the app, and switch on richer features (batches, maintenance, projects) only when you need them.
