Reminder notifications

When Gubbins is installed as an app, it can surface its alerts as OS notifications — so you hear about low stock, expiries, overdue loans and due servicing without having to open it.

Where to find it: Settings → Notifications (after installing the app).

Turning them on

Notifications are opt-in. Enable them in Settings and grant your device's notification permission, then choose which of the four lanes you want:

• Low stock
• Expiring items
• Maintenance due
• Warranty due

Gubbins then delivers those as OS notifications, and — where your device supports it — checks periodically in the background so reminders arrive even when the app isn't open. Tapping a notification opens Gubbins straight to what it's about.

💡 Tip Turn on just the lanes you'll act on. If you don't manage expiries, leave that off — you'll get a cleaner, more trustworthy stream of reminders you actually respond to.

⚠️ Heads-up Notifications need Gubbins installed and permission granted, and support varies by device (for example, they're limited on iOS). Where they aren't available, Gubbins simply doesn't show them — the in-app Alerts feed always works regardless.

ℹ️ Note These are local notifications, generated on your device — there's no server and no push account. Nothing about your inventory leaves your device to make them work. See Privacy & security.
