Sales and Disposals

Sales & disposals

Not everything stays forever. When you sell something or write it off, Gubbins records it properly — removing it from stock while keeping the history, and feeding the sales & margin report.

Where to find it: an item's actions (Sell / Write off), once the Sales & disposals capability is enabled (Modular UI).

Recording a sale

Sell an item to record it leaving for money — capture what it sold for, and Gubbins removes the stock and logs the sale. Sold items feed the sales & margin report, so your profit picture stays current.

Writing off

Write off an item that's leaving without a sale — broken, lost, expired, given away. The stock is removed and the disposal recorded, so your counts stay accurate and there's a clear trail of what happened to it.

💡 Tip Use write-off to clear dead stock and expired batches honestly — it's better to record that something's gone than to leave a phantom count that misleads your reports.

ℹ️ Note Selling or writing off is permanent removal — different from a loan (temporary, comes back) or a transfer (moves between your own locations). Every disposal is kept in the activity log.
