Language and Region

Language & region

Gubbins adapts to where you are and the language you read — controlling the interface language and how numbers, dates and currency are formatted, all from one setting.

Where to find it: Settings → Appearance → Language & region.

Language

The interface is available in English and German today, with more possible over time. Gubbins picks the language from your chosen locale, and anything not yet translated falls back to English automatically — so the app is always fully usable, whatever you pick.

Region & formatting

Your locale also sets how Gubbins formats things:

  • Numbers — grouping and decimal separators.
  • Dates — day/month order and style.
  • Currency — symbol and formatting for prices throughout the app.

Your base currency is guessed on first run from your device and can be changed here — it's the currency prices are shown and totalled in across items, projects and reports.

💡 Tip Language and formatting share one locale setting, so switching region gets you both the right words and the right number/date/currency style in a single change.

ℹ️ Note Changing your base currency changes how amounts are displayed and totalled — it doesn't convert historical values at an exchange rate. Set it to the currency you actually work in.
