Kiosk and Tablet Mode

Kiosk & tablet mode

Running Gubbins on a wall-mounted tablet in the workshop or store? Kiosk mode keeps the screen awake and the interface contained, so a shared display stays usable all day without fiddling.

Where to find it: Settings → Dashboard → Kiosk & display.

What it does

Turn kiosk mode on and Gubbins:

  • Keeps the screen awake with a wake-lock, so the tablet doesn't sleep mid-task.
  • Contains touch and selection on the dashboard, so stray taps and text-selection don't disrupt a display people walk up to and use.

It pairs naturally with an installed app running full-screen in its own window.

💡 Tip Kiosk mode is great with a lean module set: hide everything the shared tablet doesn't need, switch kiosk on, and you've got a focused, always-on inventory station.

ℹ️ Note The screen wake-lock depends on browser/device support and only holds while Gubbins is in the foreground — it's a convenience for a dedicated display, not a guarantee the screen never sleeps.

Large-format displays

On tablets and foldables, Gubbins also widens its layout to make better use of the extra room — so a big screen isn't just a stretched phone view.
