Variants & SKUs

When one product comes in several sizes, colours or values, you don't want a dozen unrelated items cluttering your inventory. Variants link a parent item to its child variants, so they stay grouped but each keeps its own stock.

Where to find it: the Lifecycle tab of an item's details, once the Variants & SKUs capability is enabled (Modular UI).

What variants are for

A variant is the same product in a different flavour:

  • Resistors: 1 kΩ, 10 kΩ, 100 kΩ.
  • A T-shirt: S / M / L, in black or white.
  • Filament: the same brand in a dozen colours.

You keep one parent item for the product and add child variants under it — each with its own stock, SKU/part number, price and details. Browsing stays tidy, but you can still see the whole family together.

ℹ️ Note Variants are for the same product. That's different from:

💡 Tip Use a variant's SKU/part number to hold the specific ordering code for that size or colour — handy when you reorder or scan a specific variant.
