Found on the Dashboard, Cast Balance answers "who is actually carrying this book?"

| Element | Meaning |
|---|---|
| Screen-time bar | Word-weighted, measured from your scene prose — not a count of appearances |
| Presence strip | Which chapters each character appears in |
| Flags | Automatic warnings when someone important drops out for a long stretch, or goes quiet late in the story |
Because the bar is weighted by the words in the scenes a character is in, a character who appears briefly in many scenes reads differently from one who dominates a few long ones.
- A protagonist who vanishes for ten chapters.
- A side character who has quietly taken over.
- A character who fades out before the ending needs them.
Cast Balance measures scene prose, so it needs prose to measure. Write scenes in the Manuscript view (or import a draft) and make sure events list their involved characters.
Cast Balance measures the manuscript rather than the story, so reading mode hides it.
- Character Arc Grid — presence per chapter, in full detail
- Plot Threads — the same cadence analysis, for subplots
