World and Towny

DaemoniaCraft's main Towny world is a 1:750 scale Earth map.

Towny provides the player-run settlement, territory and nation layer of the server.

Towns

Current new-town defaults:

  • creation cost: $150,000;
  • new towns begin private rather than public;
  • new towns are closed rather than open-join;
  • new towns are not neutral by default;
  • towns are allowed to participate in war;
  • a newly created town receives 10 bonus claims.

A Towny townblock is 16 × 16 blocks.

Town Growth

Town level is determined by resident count.

Town Level Residents Townblock Limit
Camp 1 16
Settlement 5 32
Village 10 96
Town 15 160
Large Town 20 224
City 25 320
Large City 30 384
Metropolis 50 448

Residents can personally own up to 100 plots.

Claims

  • Normal connected townblock claim cost: $0
  • Purchased bonus townblock: $100,000
  • Outpost creation: $100,000
  • Towns normally need a 5-townblock buffer from other towns' plots.
  • This plot-distance restriction is ignored between towns in the same nation.
  • Outposts must normally remain at least 5 townblocks from another town's plots.

Outposts

Outposts are enabled.

The current configuration does not enforce the outpost limits displayed inside Town/Nation level definitions, so those level-specific outpost numbers are not treated as player limits here.

Nations

Nation creation costs $10,000,000.

New nations are:

  • private rather than public;
  • closed rather than open-join;
  • neutral by default.

Nation capitals cannot remain neutral.

Nation level is based on total resident count.

Nation Level Residents Bonus Townblocks
Nation 0 +10
Federation 10 +20
Dominion 20 +40
Kingdom 30 +60
Empire 40 +100
Realm 60 +140

The current configuration does not impose a resident cap, town-count cap or ally cap on nations.

Town and Nation Spawns

Current travel costs:

Destination Cost
Own Town Spawn Free
Another town in your nation $5
Allied town $10

Town/Nation teleports use a 5-second warmup.

Neutrality

Neutrality has an ongoing configured cost:

  • Town neutrality: $2,500
  • Nation neutrality: $10,000

If neutrality cannot be funded, neutral status can be lost.

Bankruptcy

Town bankruptcy is enabled.

If a town cannot meet costs, it can enter debt rather than disappearing immediately.

While bankrupt, a town cannot normally expand, recruit or build.

The current maximum calculated town debt is capped at $100,000. A town that reaches its debt cap and still cannot meet upkeep can be deleted.
