Live Culture Vials are the practical delivery method for infections.
They can be filled in the Incubator (Culture mode or Blood Duplication mode) and then used to:

  • Transfer the infection into a Syringe (right‑click a filled syringe with the vial).
  • Infect food and water bottles/potions (right‑click them with the vial).
  • Inoculate a Petri Dish (right‑click a Petri Dish block with the vial).

After any of these uses, the vial becomes a Dirty Culture Vial, which must be cleaned with Ethanol or Wipes before it can be reused.

Information policy

The vial stores a complete viable strain through obfuscated server-authoritative data, but its tooltip deliberately reveals only that a sealed genetic profile exists. Use Pathogen/Visibility Reagents, the Incubator, Microscope, Gene Imprints, and records to learn details.

In Creative mode, inoculating a Petri Dish does not replace the held Live Culture Vial with a Dirty Vial. Empty/compatible vial states stack where their NBT allows it.

Laboratory use

  • Incubator input for cloning/expanding cultures.
  • Exact-strain evidence for Microscope and Vaccine Maker workflows.
  • Can transfer infection into supported blood tools, food, drink, or environmental research targets.
  • Spent vials are most reliably restored through the Sterilization Chamber.

See Sample Chain, Incubator, Microscope, and Dirty Culture Vial.
