Assistant Coding
Deutsch: Assistent Programmieren
The "Coding" assistant helps you write, debug, refactor, and improve code. You ask your question, attach the relevant source files, and add the compiler messages if you have any.
- Open "Assistants" → "Coding". The page of the assistant is called "Coding Assistant".
- Under "Context", attach your source files with "Add file", or drop them anywhere on the page. Click a file to preview it; "Clear file list" removes all files. The model takes the files as context and is told not to invent files or interfaces that aren't there.
- Have compiler messages? Switch on "Do you want to provide compiler messages?", and paste them under "Compiler messages".
- Enter "Your question(s)".
- Choose a provider, and click "Get Support".
The model answers in the language of your question.
Besides source and configuration files, you can attach documents, for example, a specification. Images work if the model can read them; audio and video files are transcribed first, which needs a transcription provider. Executables aren't accepted. See Attachments.
The answer appears below the form. To continue, send it to a "New Chat" with "Send to ...": the chat starts with your question and your files; see Assistants. If you use a profile, the assistant takes it into account.
The tool selection is always shown in this assistant. The model can use the selected tools, for example, the web search to look up documentation; see Tools in the Chat.
In "Assistant: Coding Options", "Preselect coding options?" lets you start with the compiler messages switched on or off ("Preselect compiler messages?"), a minimum confidence, a provider, and a profile. "Default tools for this assistant" chooses the tools it starts with.
- Attach the files that matter for your question, not the whole project. Everything you attach goes to the model, and a large project exceeds what it can handle at once.
- Paste the complete compiler message, with file names and line numbers.
- Describe your environment in a profile, for example, your programming languages and frameworks, so that you don't repeat it in every question; see Profiles.
- When you send a text from another assistant here, it lands in "Your question(s)".
