Assistants
Deutsch: Assistenten
Assistants handle common tasks without you writing a prompt: you fill in a form, and the assistant writes the instructions for the AI. This page explains what all assistants have in common. Each assistant has a page of its own; see the list below.
Open "Assistants" in the navigation bar. The page groups the assistants into "General", "Business", "Learning", "Software Engineering", and "AI Studio Development". Assistants that you or your organization installed as plugins appear under "Installed Assistants".
Each tile has two buttons:
- "Start" opens the assistant.
- The gear icon opens the options of the assistant, if it has any.
While an assistant works, its tile shows a badge: it's still running, its result is ready, or it failed or was canceled.
Some assistants are beta features and only appear once you switch on the preview features; see What AI Studio Offers. Your organization may also hide assistants it doesn't need.
- Fill in the form.
- Choose a provider at the bottom of the form.
- Click the button below the form, for example, "Translate" or "Summarize".
The result appears below the form while the model writes it. "Stop generation" ends it early. If something is missing, a box "Issues" lists what to fix.
Each run starts anew: the assistant doesn't remember earlier runs, and a new run replaces the previous result. To continue working on a result in a conversation, send it to a new chat; see below.
Many assistants offer two helpers above their input field:
- "Use file content as input": loads the text of a file into the input field. You can also drop a file anywhere on the assistant. Audio and video files are transcribed first, which needs a transcription provider.
- "Read content from web?": loads the text of a web page. Enter the address under "URL from which to load the content" and click "Fetch". With "Cleanup content by using an LLM agent?", the model of the assistant removes advertisements and other clutter first. This doesn't work for pages behind a paywall.
Both replace the text in the input field. Some assistants call the file button differently, for example, "Load text from file".
The result card has two icons:
- "Copies the content to the clipboard": copies the result.
- "Export result": saves the result, for example, as a Word document; see Pandoc and File Formats.
Below the result, you find:
- "Send to ...": sends the result to another assistant, where it lands in the input field, or to a "New Chat", where you can continue the conversation with the AI.
- "Copy result": copies the result.
- "Reset": clears the form and the result, and restores the preselected values.
At the bottom, the shield shows the confidence level of the provider, and the profile button and the tool selection appear in the assistants that use them.
You can leave an assistant while it works. It keeps running in the background, and when you come back, you find its result. AI Studio doesn't save assistant results, though: copy, export, or send a result to a chat to keep it.
The gear icon in the assistant, or on its tile, opens its options. Changes apply at once and take effect the next time you open the assistant, or after "Reset":
- "Preselect … options?", for example, "Preselect translator options?": when on, the assistant starts with the values you choose here, such as a language or a provider. When off, it starts with its defaults.
- "Select a minimum confidence level": only providers at this level or higher can be used; see Provider Confidence.
- "Preselected provider": the provider the assistant starts with; see Providers and Models.
- "Show tool selection in this assistant?" and "Default tools for this assistant": see Tools in the Chat.

Assistant plugins add assistants of their own, written by your organization or by others. Before AI Studio starts such an assistant, it checks the plugin for security risks. Your organization may approve plugins for you. Some plugins open a chat directly instead of a form. See Plugins.
