Deutsch: Was AI Studio bietet

AI Studio brings AI models from many providers into one desktop app. This page gives you an overview of what you can do with it.

Chat

Talk to the model of your choice, and switch the model whenever another one suits your task better. Keep your chats in workspaces, or start a chat that deletes itself. Attach files and images, and export answers, for example, as a Word document. Pandoc and File Formats lists the formats. See Using the Chat for the details.

You can prepare your chats, too:

  • Profiles tell the AI who you are and how you want your answers, so you don't have to repeat it in every chat.
  • Chat templates start a chat with prepared instructions, for example, for a recurring task.

Assistants

Assistants handle common tasks without you writing a prompt. You fill in a form, and the assistant writes the instructions for the AI. The "Assistants" page groups them as follows: Assistants explains how they work.

Group Assistant What it does
General Text Summarizer Summarizes a text.
Translation Translates a text into another language.
Grammar & Spelling Checks the grammar and spelling of a text.
Rewrite & Improve Rewrites and improves a text in a style you choose.
Prompt Optimizer Improves a prompt along a structured guideline.

Assistants that you or your organization install as plugins appear under "Installed Assistants".

Tools

AI models can use tools on their own: "Web Search", "Read Web Page", and "Search Confluence". When you ask something a model can't answer from what it knows, it looks it up and names the sources it used. You decide which tools a model may use. See Tools in the Chat.

Your own data (beta)

The AI can answer from your own documents. Add folders and files from your computer, or data of your organization, as data sources. The AI searches them when a question calls for it, and names the passages it used. For your own files, AI Studio keeps the search index on your computer. See Data Sources.

Voice input

Dictate your messages instead of typing them, and have recordings, audio files, and video files transcribed. For this, you add a transcription provider, which can also run on your own computer. See Voice Input.

Many providers

AI Studio works with OpenAI, Anthropic, Google, Mistral, xAI, DeepSeek, Alibaba Cloud, Perplexity, OpenRouter, Hetzner (experimental), IONOS, LiteLLM, Requesty, Hugging Face, Groq, and Fireworks.ai, with the AI services Helmholtz Blablador and GWDG SAIA for research, and with models you run yourself through ollama, LM Studio, llama.cpp, vLLM, or llmman. You're not tied to any of them. See Providers and Models.

Privacy and control

  • You decide where your data goes. With the provider confidence, you rate how far you trust each provider, and you can keep sensitive work away from providers you trust less. See Provider Confidence.
  • Your keys stay safe. AI Studio keeps API keys in the credential store of your operating system.
  • AI Studio doesn't report to us. It sends nothing to its developers. To look for new versions, it asks GitHub, and you can switch that off.

See Privacy and Security.

Plugins

Plugins extend AI Studio: language plugins translate the app, assistant plugins add assistants, and configuration plugins let your organization set up AI Studio for you. You manage them on the "Plugins" page; see Plugins.

For organizations

IT departments can manage AI Studio centrally: roll out providers, assistants, chat templates, and tools, set defaults, or lock settings. See Enterprise IT.

Preview features

Some features are still in development. They are marked as beta here and appear only after you switch them on:

  1. Open "Settings" → "App Options".
  2. Under "Preview feature visibility", choose "Also show features in beta: these are almost ready for release; expect some bugs".
  3. Under "Select preview features", choose the features you want.

Free and lean

AI Studio is free for personal and commercial use. It needs little storage and memory, and runs even on low-cost hardware such as a Raspberry Pi. You only pay your provider for what you use.
