Once you have a few EMC machines, the trick is to chain them so EMC flows by itself. Here are the patterns that work in this version.
Classic chain: Collector to Relay to Condenser
- A collector on open sky generates EMC and pushes it to its neighbours.
- The relay stores it and forwards it, earning a small bonus from every adjacent collector.
- The condenser consumes that EMC and produces whatever item you locked.
Relays never pass EMC to each other, so always put a collector or a consumer between them.
Charging Klein Stars
- Put a star in a collector's top slot to charge it at the collector's rate while it is not sending EMC elsewhere.
- Put a star in a relay's charge slot for a much faster fill, or in the burn slot to drain it back into the relay.
Fuel upgrading
- Feed coal or a fuel into a collector and let it upgrade the fuel for you. Output the finished fuel from the top or bottom face.
Matter Furnaces
- A Matter Furnace can run on EMC instead of fuel: pipe EMC in and it smelts without ever needing coal. Its top face is input and its bottom face is output, so you can stack machines vertically.
Entropy Sinks
- An Entropy Sink turns surplus items into EMC, so a farm that produces more than you need can feed the same network.
Tips
- Keep the network simple: one strong source feeding one consumer is more efficient than many sources competing for the same pipes.
- Remember the balance defaults: collectors generate a quarter of the classic rate and only in sunlight, so plan for slower but steadier income.
- Use the item sides of each machine: collectors take fuel from the sides and output upgrades from top/bottom; relays take items from the sides and release full stars from top/bottom.
Server settings: the whole EMC economy is controlled by the balance.emc.* options.
