Catalysts & Lenses

Applies to Equivalent Legacy 1.1.0+ for Minecraft 1.21.1 (NeoForge).

This family of tools carves through terrain. They all cost EMC per block destroyed and collect the drops for you.

Destruction Catalyst

• Craft from 4 Nova Catalysts, 4 Mobius Fuel and 1 flint and steel.
• Right-click a block to destroy a deep box in the face you hit.
• Press V to raise the charge; the depth grows with it (1 block at charge 0, up to 16 at charge 3).
• Each block costs 32 EMC in this version. When the EMC runs out it stops.

Catalytic Lens

• Craft from Dark Matter, a Destruction Catalyst and a Hyperkinetic Lens.
• Same destruction as the Catalyst, but with much greater depth: up to 64 blocks at high charge.
• Press R to fire an explosive lens projectile (it uses the Hyperkinetic Lens's blast).

Hyperkinetic Lens

• Craft from diamond, Dark Matter and a Nova Catalyst.
• Right-click, or press R, to fire an explosive projectile.
• Press V to set the charge. Higher charge means a bigger blast but a much higher EMC cost.

Hidden abilities

• The Hyperkinetic Lens blast is capped at a radius of 8 in this version, so it is a mining tool rather than a terrain eraser.
• The Catalytic Lens is effectively a Destruction Catalyst and a Hyperkinetic Lens in one item.
• All three refuse to break indestructible or extremely hard blocks.
• Drops are collected together rather than scattered.

Server settings: the per-block cost is balance.catalysts.emcPerBlock (32 by default) and the lens blast cap is balance.lens.maxRadius (8 by default); server.items.disableAllRadiusMining disables area mining.
