Energy Collectors & Relays

Applies to Equivalent Legacy 1.1.0+ for Minecraft 1.21.1 (NeoForge).

Energy Collectors generate EMC from light. Anti-Matter Relays store and forward it. Together they are the backbone of any EMC farm.

Collectors come in three tiers:

  • MK1: slowest generation, 10,000 EMC storage, 8 input slots.
  • MK2: about three times the rate, 30,000 storage, 12 input slots.
  • MK3: fastest, 60,000 storage, 16 input slots.

Relays also come in three tiers, with much larger buffers and transfer rates:

  • MK1: 100,000 storage.
  • MK2: 1,000,000 storage.
  • MK3: 10,000,000 storage.

How to use a Collector

  • Place it where it can see the sky. In this version collectors only generate from sunlight, and they generate at a quarter of the classic rate.
  • Right-click to open it. The top slot takes a Klein Star (to charge it) or a fuel (to upgrade it).
  • Put fuel in the input grid and the collector will turn it into the next fuel tier using its stored EMC.
  • The ghost slot sets the upgrade target; click it to clear.
  • When the top slot is empty and the buffer has EMC, the collector pushes it to every neighbouring block that accepts EMC.

How to use a Relay

  • Right-click to open it. The burn slot destroys items (or drains a Klein Star) for EMC; the charge slot fills a Klein Star.
  • Every tick the relay sends its stored EMC to all non-relay neighbours. Relays never pass EMC to each other, so always chain collector to relay to consumer.
  • A collector standing next to a relay gives that relay a small bonus every tick, on top of the EMC it sends.

Hidden abilities

  • Collectors generate only from sunlight, and the Nether no longer counts as full light.
  • Automation: collectors accept fuel from their sides and output the upgraded fuel from top/bottom. Relays accept items from the sides and only release a Klein Star from top/bottom once it is completely full.
  • Fuel can be upgraded by the collector itself, so a chest of coal slowly becomes Alchemical Coal, Mobius Fuel and Aeternalis Fuel while you are away.
  • Every EMC block sends its buffer out evenly between all neighbours that accept EMC, so avoid wiring one source into many competing consumers.

Server settings: generation is scaled by balance.emc.generationMultiplier (0.25 by default), sunlight-only by balance.collectors.sunOnly, and the whole economy by balance.emc.enabled.
