Divining Rods

Applies to Equivalent Legacy 1.1.0+ for Minecraft 1.21.1 (NeoForge).

Divining Rods scan the ground ahead of you and report the EMC value of what is buried there. They are a prospecting tool: use one to decide where to dig.

How to get them: each rod is a frame of the matching Covalence Dust with the previous rod in the centre.

• Low Rod: Low Covalence Dust + a wooden stick.
• Medium Rod: Medium Covalence Dust + Low Rod.
• High Rod: High Covalence Dust + Medium Rod.

Using them: right-click a block face to scan a deep box in front of you. You get a chat readout of the average and highest EMC in the area.

Hidden abilities

• Each rod has a maximum range mode: the Low Rod scans 3 blocks deep, the Medium 16, and the High 64.
• The Medium and High rods also report the second-highest value, and the High rod the third-highest, helping you pick the best spot.
• Blocks without an EMC value are valued through their smelting result, so ores read correctly.
• The rods work on any block, not just ores, so they are a general "is this area worth digging" tool.
