Key Concepts

Surgery Bill

Each surgery recorded on a BHT generates a Surgery Bill — the master bill that links all theatre charges for that procedure. Child bills (services, pharmacy, timed services, professional fees) are linked back to this master surgery bill.

Surgery Workbench

The Surgery Workbench is the central hub for managing an individual surgery. From one screen you can see the patient's surgery, add all charge types, view running totals, and navigate to clinical details.

Charge Types Within a Surgery

A single surgery can accumulate charges from four sources:

  1. Theatre Services — OT room charges, consumables, investigation charges
  2. Timed Services — Charges billed by duration (OT time, ventilator time, ICU hours)
  3. Pharmacy Issues — Medicines and surgical supplies dispensed for the case
  4. Professional Fees — Surgeon, assistant surgeon, and anaesthetist fees

BHT (Bed Head Ticket)

The unique admission number for each inpatient. All theatre activity is recorded against a specific BHT.
