Installation

SatMe is a free Android app for radio amateurs who work satellites. It runs entirely on the phone: no account, no ads, no sign-up.

Requirements

Android 8.0 or newer
Screen any phone; the layout is portrait
Network needed to download orbital elements; passes are then computed offline
Optional hardware USB-C OTG adapter for CAT cables, USB sound cards, RTL-SDR dongles, KISS radios

Install from Google Play

  1. Open Google Play on the phone and search for SatMe (package fr.f4ioz.satcombo).
  2. Tap Install.
  3. Open the app: on first launch it downloads the orbital elements and shows the passes over your position.

Updates arrive through Google Play like any other app. SatMe is not distributed as an APK on GitHub: the repository holds the source code only.

Permissions

SatMe asks for each permission when a feature needs it, not at startup.

Permission What it is for
Location your QTH: passes, Doppler, locator. You can type a locator instead.
Microphone recording passes (MP3), live SSTV and APRS decoding
Notifications pass alerts, recording notification, APRS cheers
USB devices CAT cables, USB sound card, SDR dongle, KISS radio, rotator — asked when the device is plugged in
Bluetooth (on demand) Bluetooth hands-free audio source, Bluetooth compass

Your callsign

Your callsign is typed once in the settings (Station / QTH). It is used for the logbook, the ADIF export and APRS frames you choose to transmit. SatMe never sends it anywhere on its own: network requests carry only the User-Agent SatMe/<version> (Android <n>). See Privacy.
