Korea Post

The Korea Post customer barcode encodes a six-digit Korean postcode and a check digit for the automatic sorting of letter mail. Each digit is five equally spaced positions holding three bars, followed by a bar that separates it from the next, and the digits are printed from the least significant.

Korea Post replaced the six-digit postcodes with five-digit postcodes in August 2015.

Uses:

  • Korean bulk mail, printed by the sender.

Standards: Korea Post customer barcode, as described by ETRI (Electronics and Telecommunications Trends, 1999).

Data and Options

  • The data field contains the six digits of the postcode.
  • The mandatory check digit is calculated automatically, unless validatecheck is given.
  • The validatecheck option takes the last digit of the data to be the check digit and refuses the data if it is wrong.
  • The includecheckintext option makes the check digit appear in the human readable text.
