Style Needle

Half circle with needle

The needle style, drawn with three colour bands and a legend

A 180° scale coloured by the bands, with tick marks and a tapered needle that shows the value. Because the bands are drawn on the scale itself, this is the style that shows your colour bands best. A small triangle marks the target. The needle swings into place with a little overshoot.

Good for

Power, speed.

Options that matter here

  • severity draws the coloured scale; there is no separate arc fill.
  • min and max set the two ends of the scale.
  • target draws a triangle marker on the scale.
  • columns sets how many gauges sit in a row; by default as many as fit the card's width.

Angles, centre text and scale numbers (v2.0.0+)

start_angle, end_angle, center and center_text work on the needle as on the ring: see Angles, centre text and scale numbers. tick_labels: true writes round numbers along the scale from min to max, the ends always shown, outside the arc and past the target marker. In the editor it is Numbers on the scale, in the Style section.

start_angle: -120
end_angle: 120
center: band
tick_labels: true

Layout: tiles, as many per row as fit the card's width. Every option is described on the Options page.
