Who gets it: Bithynia
Hail Basileios, your people wish you well, all is well with us, the Gods favour Bithynia. You have established an impressive kingdom, and your deeds will not be forgotten. But the time has come to improve our army even further, so that we may stop the Syrian monarchs and get rid of the pesky Attalids to our south. Our weapon smiths recommend adopting the Celtic Thureos shield, which is larger and wider than most of the shields we have used thus far, Greek or Thracian. We will equip some of the Hoplites as light infantry bearing these big shields, spears and javelins, and they shall be called Thureophoroi. They are now available for recruitment into the royal forces.
It fires when at least 20 settlements are held by Bithynia.
The game checks this at the end of every round.
4 units can be recruited once it fires:
| Unit | Who can raise it |
|---|---|
| Bithynian Epibatai | Bithynia |
| Bithynian Royal Peltasts | Bithynia |
| Bithynian Thureophoroi | Bithynia |
| Bithynian Thureophoroi Cavalry | Bithynia |
