Clem CurtainCall
Member of the EverAfters of HemsHollow. Clem CurtainCall is the last act. Whatever the story and whoever has been telling it, Clem is the one who steps out to tell the ending, and she has never once told one badly. She is the troupe's leading lady and would be the first to tell you so, with a twinkle, before rolling up her sleeves to help wash the soup bowls. Her endings are grand, sweeping and heartfelt: reunions that bring the whole square to its feet and farewells that leave it in happy tears, and every one of them ends happily ever after. She takes the dusk shift, when the Void presses hardest on the Wall, and she ends every story with a deep, sweeping bow, whether there is a crowd of a hundred or a crowd of one.
The Curtain Call. When Clem takes her final bow, the whole story settles into every listener's memory, stitched in so firmly that it can never come loose. A story that Clem has ended can never be forgotten, not by the listeners, not by HemsHollow, and not even when a Storyvore comes sniffing for it. Crowds stay to the very end of every story in HemsHollow, because no one wants to miss Clem's bow.
