Clip Extractor Building from Source
You need Windows, Python 3.10 or newer, and ffmpeg on your PATH (see Installation).
git clone https://github.com/speedyrulz/RulZ-AI-Tools-Suite/tree/main/apps/rulz-simple-video-clip-extractor
cd rulz-simple-video-clip-extractor
run.bat
run.bat creates a .venv on first run, installs the dependencies, and starts the app. You can pass a video: run.bat "C:\path\to\video.mp4".
Manually:
python -m venv .venv
.venv\Scripts\pip install -r requirements.txt
.venv\Scripts\python main.py
Dependencies: PySide6 (Qt user interface and audio), PyAV (frame-accurate decoding) and numpy (colour matching). Exports run through the ffmpeg command-line tool.
.venv\Scripts\python -m pip install pyinstaller
.venv\Scripts\python packaging\build.py
This produces dist\RulZ-Simple-Video-Clip-Extractor-v<version>-win64.zip containing the app, its assets, the MIT license, the logo notice and the third-party notices. The version number comes from simplecut/__init__.py.

The app stores preferences in the registry. To run with a throwaway profile, point SIMPLECUT_SETTINGS_INI at an .ini file path before starting it:
set SIMPLECUT_SETTINGS_INI=%TEMP%\rulz-test.ini
.venv\Scripts\python main.py
The source code is MIT licensed. The RulZ name and logo are not: remove or replace them in your own build. The release zip also bundles third-party libraries, including GPL-licensed x264 and x265 via PyAV; see THIRD-PARTY-NOTICES.txt in the zip.
