RulZ Image Organizer

RulZ Image Organizer is a free Windows app that works like the People view in Google Photos. Point it at your photo folders and it finds every face, groups the same person together, and lets you search by who is in a photo, their expression, which way they're facing, and their pose.

Everything runs on your own PC. Your photos and face data never leave your computer, and your files are never moved, renamed or changed.

Highlights

  • Automatic people groups that you name, merge and correct. Your corrections are never undone by later scans.
  • Search like you talk: Mom smiling, Dad, facing left, standing.
  • Handles big libraries: tens of thousands of photos, with thumbnails cached on disk.
  • Formats: JPG, PNG, WebP, BMP, GIF, TIFF and HEIC (iPhone).
  • Dark (black and red) or light, remembered between runs.
  • Open source under the MIT License.

Recent versions

Version What changed
1.3.0 Scanning no longer locks the library (no more "database is locked"); faces are found on several threads; the photo viewer loads in the background; thumbnails load the ones you're looking at first; 16-bit images no longer turn white; closing during a scan finishes cleanly.
