"Not, for nothing new.
None, for nothing remains.
Never, for nothing lasts.
And so, Null."
-- The Tenets of Null

Overview

The Last Loom is the loom Null built in the Observatory of the Obscure, on which Null weaves the creatures of The Fray. Null calls it the Last Loom, believing it will be the last loom that will ever be needed: the one that brings the end of everything, and leaves a perfect world in the nothing. The scholars of the University of the Unseen know it by another name, the Loom of the Three Denials.

The Stolen Tools

The Last Loom is worked with the three tools of the First Loom, on which the Great Weave was made: If's Spindle, Once's Warp Stones and Ever's Shuttle, stolen by Null from the LoomWardens.

Null weaves from the last loose fibres that drift at the edge of the Fraying, the threads the world has almost let go. With If's Spindle, Null spins each fibre into a want: not a wonder, only a hunger. With Once's Warp Stones, Null fixes that hunger in place. With Ever's Shuttle, Null binds it into a body that will keep going for as long as the hunger does. The gifts that wove the Great Weave are turned, on the Last Loom, to the work of unweaving it.

What It Weaves

Every creature woven on the Last Loom is woven to hasten the Void's otherwise natural work. Among them are Null's three great children, one for each gift of the FirstSpun: the MemoryMoths, the InkDrinkers and the Storyvores, along with the Woeverns and the rest of the Fray.

The Last Loom and the StoryWeaver

Every tool the StoryWeaver recovers loosens Null's hold on the Last Loom (see Threadbare Plot).
