EMR — Patient Journey Timeline

Status: Under development (GitHub issue #21652). This article is a stub and will be expanded once the feature is released.

The Patient Journey Timeline is a graphical, chronological view of a patient's complete history — from the date of registration to date — on a single time axis. It lets a clinician see the whole story of a patient at a glance instead of opening each encounter separately.

What it shows

Key clinical and administrative events are plotted in chronological order:

  • Registration
  • OPD visits
  • Inpatient admissions and discharges
  • Surgeries and procedures
  • Major diagnoses
  • Significant investigation results
  • Immunisations / vaccinations

Each event on the timeline is clickable and opens the underlying record.

Where the data comes from

The timeline reuses the existing longitudinal record — encounters and ClinicalFindingValue records already linked to the patient. No new clinical data entry is required; the timeline is a visualisation layer over data the system already holds.

It builds on the same charting infrastructure as the OPD Health Analytics tab (Blood Pressure, BMI/Weight, and Investigation Results trend charts).
