Finance Daily Return Report
The Daily Return report shows all cash and settlement collection for a selected period, broken down by category, so the total matches what should be handed over or reconciled for the day.
Path: Reports > Financial Reports > Daily return
Page: reports/financialReports/daily_return.xhtml
There is a separate "Daily return – Fast" report backed by a different,
still-evolving implementation (DailyReturnDtoController) — this page
documents the original "Daily return" report only.

These two sections are kept separate because they represent different kinds
of money: a deposit taken up front (an appointment deposit, or a direct
"Make a Deposit" against an admission) versus a payment made against an
existing balance during a stay (interim "Make a Payment", or a
post-discharge payment). The INWARD_PAYMENT_COLLECTION section (issue
#23507) is new — before this fix, interim inward payments and post-discharge
payments were not shown in Daily Return at all.
When an Appointment Deposit is converted to an Inward Deposit on admission (via the Inpatient Dashboard's "Convert to Inward Deposit" banner), the report shows:
- The original Inward Appointment Bill (in Inward Deposit Collection).
- An Inward Appointment Cancel Bill for the same amount, negative (in Inward Deposit Collection) — this cancels out the original.
- A new Inward Deposit bill for the same amount, positive (in Inward Deposit Collection) — this is the converted deposit.
Before issue #23507, step 3's bill was mistakenly tagged as an interim inward payment instead of a deposit, so it never appeared anywhere in Daily Return — only the cancellation from step 2 was visible, making it look like the money had vanished. The underlying data was never lost; only the report failed to show the offsetting entry.
