You can use ESD (Enlightened Sound Daemon) for output this way: Just start your xmms2d via ESD-wrapper. You also need OSS-output. Then xmms2d thinks its writing to OSS-device but actually it goes to ESD:

   esddsp xmms2d -o oss

Then just run your xmms2 in normal way.
