Concerns after Log table removal

XMMS2 used to have a Log table which stored a list of all media played with a number of statistics, including the date-time it was last played (in epoch time) and the percent of the song that was played back. It was removed with commit f4a3573a238345ecf5abfa4789ad1fe47e7c3b1c The removal of this table left a number of people upset, though the concerns that brought about its removal were quite valid. The Log table was overly complex and cumbersome to deal with for simple data like the lastplayed time for a song, or the average percent completion of a song.

Options

  • Reinstate the Log table, but have some of the basic data accessible in the Media table by default instead of requiring a join
  • Offer the simple data of the Log table as properties of the Media table
