DitherTemporal

DitherTemporal:Void enable:Int32
Parameter Mode Type Default Description
enable In Int32 required 0 (False) for noise that stays the same in every picture, any other value (True) for noise that moves with every picture. It is on by default.

Description

A BlitzLLVM extension: switches the movement of the noise of Dither on or off. It is on by default, which makes the noise a different pattern with every picture that is shown (it repeats after 64 pictures), so that the eye averages the bands of a gradient out over time. With DitherTemporal off the noise is the same pattern in every picture: nothing flickers when a single picture is looked at on its own, for instance a screenshot, a still scene, or a video that is compressed, but the pattern stays in place and is easier to see. It applies to both places where Dither adds noise, the picture of the window when it is shown and what 3D drawing makes before it is rounded to the buffer (including Dither 2), and it does nothing while Dither is 0. The change takes effect with the next picture, and the pipelines are not made again. The environment variable BLITZLLVM_DITHER_TEMPORAL=0 makes the program start with it off.
