Step

For variable = from To limit Step amount

Description

The amount that a For loop adds to its variable after each pass. It defaults to 1. A negative step counts down, so the start has to be larger than the limit. A step of 0, or one that is infinite or not a number, is an error because the loop could never end.

Differences

  • The original only accepts a constant after Step and reports "Step value must be constant" otherwise. BlitzLLVM accepts any expression, but warns about one that is not a constant (loop-unroll-requires-constant, level 4), because only a constant step lets the loop be unrolled.
