Fullscreen

Graphics and Graphics3D with mode 1 do not switch the display to the size you ask for. They open a window without a border that covers the main display and show the picture in it at the largest size that fits with its aspect ratio kept, centered. The rest of the display is black. A 4:3 picture on a 16:9 display has black bars on the left and right, and a 16:9 picture on a 16:10 display has them at the top and bottom.

  • The program sees only the size it asked for: GraphicsWidth, GraphicsHeight, ReadPixel, GrabImage and SaveBuffer use the picture, and never the black bars or the size of the display.
  • MouseX, MouseY, MouseXSpeed, MouseYSpeed, MoveMouse and the gadgets and dialogs of BlitzPlus use the coordinates of the picture. The mouse over a black bar is at the nearest edge of the picture.
  • A picture that is larger than the display is made smaller to fit it.
  • The picture is not scaled with smoothing when its size is a whole number times the size you asked for, so pixel art stays sharp. Other sizes are smoothed. The environment variable BLITZLLVM_FULLSCREEN_FILTER can be nearest or linear to choose, and BLITZLLVM_FULLSCREEN_SCALE can be integer to only make the picture larger by whole numbers (the black bars are then larger).
  • Windows (modes 0, 2, 3 and 4) are not changed. A resizable window (mode 3) still scales the picture to the whole window.
  • The display modes in GfxModeExists and GfxMode3DExists are not used for the window. Any size is allowed, and the video mode of the display never changes, so Alt-Tab is instant and the desktop is not rearranged.
