BlitzLLVM

Half 〔BlitzLLVM〕

Half(value)
Half:Float16(value)

Returns: The Half.

Description

〔BlitzLLVM〕 This command does not exist in the original Blitz products. BlitzLLVM adds it.

Converts a number or a text to a Half, a 16-bit real with about 3 digits that goes up to 65504. This is a BlitzLLVM extension: the originals only know Int and Float. Larger numbers become infinity. A Half is calculated with as a Float, so it is made for storing many numbers in little space, for example in a bank.

Differences

  • Not in the originals, which only have the 32-bit real (Float).

Examples

h:Half = Half(1.5)
Print h * 2
Print Half(0.1) = 0.1
3.0
0
