LoadAnimMesh

LoadAnimMesh:Int32 file:String, parent:Int32=0
Parameter Mode Type Default Description
file In String required Path of the model file.
parent In Int32 0 Entity the model follows, or 0 for none. Defaults to 0.

Returns: The handle of the top entity, or 0 if the file could not be loaded.

Description

Loads a model together with its parts and animation. The result is a pivot at the top of a hierarchy of entities, one per object in the file (and per light and camera, for .3ds), so you can find a single part with FindChild and play the animation with Animate. Unlike LoadMesh the parts stay separate entities, which costs more to draw but lets them move.

Differences

  • Models in .b3d, .3ds and DirectX .x files can be loaded, see LoadMesh. A DirectX .x file brings its frames as entities and the animation keys of its animation sets, see Model formats. A .3ds file brings its object hierarchy, keys, lights and cameras (a light is a light entity, a camera is a pivot that looks at its target), see Model formats. A glTF 2.0 file (.gltf or .glb) brings its nodes as entities, its skins and its animations, see Model formats.
