   Intersect (tool)

Keep only the overlap of two regions.

Two overlapping circular regions; only the lens-shaped overlap is kept, in region orange.

Menu: Combine > Intersect | Node: Intersect | In depth: Regions & booleans

Pick two overlapping regions; Intersect keeps only the area they share.

A way to build a complicated shape out of simple ones. Overlap two easy shapes, keep what they share, and the result is an outline you would not want to draw by hand: a lens from two circles, a pointed leaf, a petal.

Order does not matter, and both selections have to be regions. If you have loose curves, make a region out of them first.
