Split a span, segment, arc, or circle into equal parts.
Menu: Construct > Point: Divide | Node: Divide | In depth: Points
Pick the two endpoints (or a segment, arc, or circle) and set the number of parts; Locus drops evenly-spaced points between them. Divide an open arc and it drops its interior points, same as a straight span. Divide a full circle and - since a circle has no endpoints - it gets all n points, evenly spaced starting from the circle's start angle.
The points a circle gets are a ring you can turn. On a circle built from a center and a point, division zero sits on that radius point, so dragging the radius point rotates the whole ring with it. On a circle built any other way, grab any one of the divisions and drag: the whole ring turns around the center, evenly spaced the entire time, and the arrow keys nudge it a little at a time.
Divide the same circle twice and you get two rings that turn independently, so one can be offset against the other.
Segments and arcs do not work this way. Both have ends, and their divisions stay pinned between them.
Select several segments, arcs and circles first and then choose Divide, and every one of them is divided into the same number of parts in one go. All the new points are left selected, and a single Undo takes them all back. Two selected points still divide the span between them.
