Distance node icon   Distance (node)

The straight-line distance between two points, as a number; measure a span instead of deriving it (a hexagon's second-vertex-over, say).

Two points A and B with a dashed span between them and the distance read out as a number purple value, 24.0 mm.

Inputs

  • Point A (point): the first point.
  • Point B (point): the second point.

Outputs

  • Distance (number): the straight-line distance between them, in mm.

What it is for

The span between two points as a number, for when a later step needs a measurement rather than a shape. Handy for deriving one dimension from another: the width of a tile from two corners you already built, fed into a Spacing input so the repeat always fits.

It reads one point from each socket, the first, so a list of points still gives a single number.
