Line node icon   Line (node)

The infinite line through two points (a long line, not a finite segment) - wire a list of points against a single point for a list of lines.

A single shared point with a list of three points; an infinite line runs through the shared point and each list point - a pencil of three lines.

Inputs

  • Point 1 (point): the first point each line passes through.
  • Point 2 (point): the second point each line passes through.

Point lists pair index-for-index. Wire a list of points into one side and a single point into the other, and that single point is shared with every point on the list - one line per list entry. Unequal lists that are both longer than one pair to the shorter list's length.

Outputs

  • Line (curve): the infinite line through each pair of points - a single line, or a list of lines when a list is wired in.

What it is for

Scaffolding rather than shape. An infinite line has no ends, so it is not something to fill or thicken; it is there to be crossed, met, or measured against.

The usual use is finding a position you cannot place by eye: cross two lines with Intersection Points and build on the point that falls out. Reach for Segment when you want an edge that stops, and can bound a region.
