The Nodes Window

   View menu (Nodes)

The node editor's own View menu - frame the node graph, and lay it out.

This is a different menu from the modeling window's View menu, even though both are called View. The menu bar follows whichever window you have focused, so clicking into the Nodes window swaps the longer modeling View for this short one. Five commands, in two groups.

Zoom to Fit - zoom and pan so the whole node graph fits in the pane (⌘9).

Center - center the pane on the nodes you have selected, without changing zoom.

A separator, and then the three layout commands.

Tidy - auto-arrange the whole node graph into left-to-right layers, with the wires routed between them (⌘L).

Bus Long Wires - take every wire that skips a column and put it on a named relay lane, so it stops crossing the body of the node graph. Adds relay nodes.

Dissolve Bus Relays - remove the relays Bus Long Wires added and reconnect each consumer straight to its source. A relay you placed by hand is left alone.

Note

Laying the node graph out sits under View rather than Edit because none of it changes what the node graph produces. Tidy moves cards; the two bus commands add and remove relays, which are pass-throughs. All three are still ordinary edits, so ⌘Z reverses any of them.

Note

Zoom to Fit and Center are on the modeling window's View menu too, and both behave the same way on either side: Zoom to Fit frames everything, Center brings your selection to the middle. What changes is only what they act on, the drawing or the node graph, which follows whichever window you are working in. Both pages cover the two windows side by side.
