Modeling Menus

   Copy (command)

Put the selected objects on the clipboard.

An L-shape and its copy dropped beside it in blue, joined by an arrow.

Menu: Edit > Copy | In depth: Duplicate, detach & ownership

Copy puts the selected objects on the clipboard, ready for Paste. Select a folder and it contributes everything inside it, so there is no need to open a group first.

What goes on the clipboard is the objects and the construction they stand on, not just their outlines. That is why a paste can be moved and edited like the original rather than arriving as a flat image of it.

This is the Modeling window's clipboard. The Nodes window has its own, so copying nodes and copying geometry do not tread on each other.

Shortcut: Cmd-C, or Ctrl-C on Windows.
