Tick node icon   Tick (node)

A tick mark centered on a point that sits on a line or circle - a short segment on a line, a short arc on a circle.

Inputs

  • Anchor (point): the basis point on the host where the mark is centered.
  • Host (any): the line or circle the mark rides.
  • Length (number, editable): the whole mark's length.

Outputs

  • Tick (curve): the mark:
    • on a line host, a short segment along the line's direction, centered on the anchor;
    • on a circle host, a short arc of that circle centered on the anchor's angle (its angular half-span is Length / 2 / radius).

What it is for

Draws a small mark across a point on a line or circle, the kind you would make with a compass and straightedge to show where something was struck. It is annotation, not construction: nothing is built from it.

The mark follows its host. On a line it comes out as a short segment along the line, on a circle as a short arc of that circle, so it always sits flush rather than crossing at an angle.
