Dedupe node icon   Dedupe (node)

Remove functionally-identical duplicate shapes (same shape, same place, within a tolerance), keeping the first; e.g.

An L-shape with a ghosted duplicate on top being removed, plus a distinct kept shape - identical copies are dropped, the first kept.

Inputs

  • Geometry (any): the stream to drop duplicate shapes from.
  • Tolerance (number): how close two shapes count as identical, in mm.

Outputs

  • Geometry (any): the geometry with duplicates removed.

What counts as a duplicate

Dedupe matches shapes, not the pieces an outline is made of. Two copies of the same tile are caught even when a boolean has cut one of their outlines into more arcs than the other. Circles drawn from different start angles, wound the opposite way, or arriving split into two arcs all count as the same circle.

The tolerance is the only knob: how far apart two copies can sit and still count as the same one.
